Uziza - Tailed Cubeb Ashanti Pepper Seeds

Known as Uziza, Odusa, Etinkeni, Ashanti Pepper, Tailed Peppers, Java Pepper or Cubeb Pepper. They are used in so many African dishes either on its own or in combination with other spices - typically Ehuru (African Nutmeg) and Uda (Grains of Selim). They have a unique aromatic peppery taste that is a challenge to replicate with other spices. It has a slightly bitter taste and used in small amounts, as a little goes a long way.

Uziza is used in various spicy and herbal African dishes, for example West African pepper soup, Nsala Soup and herbal broths. It is also an ingredient for flavouring gin and other local alcohol blends.
