Known as Uziza used in African cooking, Ashanti Pepper, Tailed Peppers, Java Pepper or Cubeb Pepper. They have a unique aromatic peppery taste that is a challenge to replicate with other spices. It has a slightly bitter taste and use in small amounts as a little goes a long way.
Uziza is used in various spicy and herbal African dishes, for example West African pepper soup, Nsala Soup and herbal broths. It is also an ingredient for flavouring gin and other local alcohol blends.
